HERMA has achieved the Platinum medal for the first time in the EcoVadis sustainability audit. Following last year’s Gold rating, the company – which specialises in packaging and labelling technology and is headquartered in Filderstadt – has therefore made the leap into the top tier of the top 1 percent of companies assessed over the past 12 months. HERMA made particularly strong gains in the environmental sector: Here, the score rose from 69 to 94 out of a possible 100 points. Key factors behind this progress included ISO 14001 certification in 2025, the company’s first participation in the CDP rating with an above-average score, the audit and verification of its carbon footprint, and the group-wide voluntary sustainability report, which includes all subsidiaries. As a result, HERMA was also able to improve its rating in the Carbon Scorecard from “intermediate” to “leader”.
“A strong signal”
“Receiving the Platinum medal for the first time is a strong signal to us that we have once again been able to substantially improve our sustainability performance,” says Marcus Gablowski, Chief Sustainability Officer at HERMA. “It is particularly important to us that such results are not based on individual measures, but on a systematic and long-term approach. This is precisely what we are continuously working on.” The task of the Sustainability Management team is to initiate, monitor and document further development. “We have made significant progress over the past year, particularly in the environmental sphere, which is now clearly reflected in the rating,” explains Elise Keuler from the Sustainability team. “This includes robust management systems, verified emissions data, greater transparency in reporting and the continuous implementation of concrete measures. “The fact that these efforts are now being rewarded with a Platinum rating is an important endorsement for us.” Managing Director Dr Guido Spachtholz added: “For HERMA, the award is also proof that sustainability has lost none of its relevance, even in a challenging market environment.” External assessments, such as those by EcoVadis, continue to be highly valued, particularly by many customers. “We therefore value the Platinum medal all the more as recognition of a course that is consistently focused on transparency, commitment and long-term improvement.”
