Adhesive 72Eps

Application and use

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Eps is specially developed for applications where the labelled packaging material, paper or board, is recycled after use. It is not necessary to separate the label for this, as the adhesive 72Eps does not have negative effects on the recycling path for paper packaging materials. The recycled paper or packaging material can be reused and printed on without any problems. In relation to the total packaging material, the weight share of the label can be up to 25%. 

The adhesive 72Eps has good aging, heat and light resistance.

Certificate on the evaluation of recyclability within the paper industry

The pressure sensitive adhesive 72Eps has been certified as "limitedly recyclable due to optical inhomogeneities in the prepared fibre stock” by the Papertechnische Stiftung (PTS) following the PTS method PTS-RH 021:2012 (Draft Oct 2019). However, in a mixture such as the household collection, the compound is recyclable. Not applicable as a mono fraction without that additional actions are carried out. The certificate is valid in combination with the following material:

Processing

Die-cutting properties are excellent on all common machines.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

Regulations concerning contact with food

All ingredients of the adhesive 72Eps comply with the recommendations BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Eps can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for a storage at room temperature and below. It may stand in direct contact with dry, moist and such fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 3 in accordance with the Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for lamination of various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (declaration of no objection valid until 26.10.2025).
